Franklin Roosevelt came into office 1933 and introduced new policies during the 100 days as President. Before coming into office, the US was in a very bad state having the stock market crash. In my opinion the main causes for the stock market crash in 1929 was overproduction and underconsumption of consumer goods and farmer products. In addition, widening gap between rich and poor; there was a uneven distribution of income because the wealth was not being being shared equally.
In the stock market game we played, it was fun making money when the market was booming. I found the stocks raised in a steady pace, but I was anxious to know when the stocks would crash. But when it was still rising I was more confident in selling and buying. When the stocks crashed I was not fully prepared and lost massive amounts of money. I realized the extent of how it was when the boom and bust happened in 1929. I ended up owing the bank thousands of dollars which of course was not a good feeling. In 1929 when the stock market crash took place it left millions in debt, changing their lives for the worst. There were many social changes that occurred in the 1920's. The changes had much to do with how people lived during that time, and this occurring because of political and economic factors. In the beginning of the 20's everyone was happy as WWI was over and veteran were once again home. In addition that woman's rights had brought more opportunities and then working. All this began to boost the economy. As more money was being made more people were spending on stock market and goods. Many were able to afford bigger houses and new cars, etc. Dancing, drinking and celebrating often happened for many as they dressed more fancier and a new fashion was brought about for both men and woman.
Personally I enjoyed the film extremely and had an interesting plot of boxing, family, and the great depression. Not only focusing on boxing but on how people lived during the 1920's and 30's through the boom and the bust. From watching this film, I have gained more of a knowledge of how families hardships were through living perspective in the Great Depression. Many scenes such as when Jimmy was trying to a job when the boss only picked a select few and the others left with job. Also having the boxing scenes added in made it suspenseful if Jimmy would win or not.
