Lenin faced many challenges after the Russia Civil War. He was the leader of the Bolsheviks and founder of communist government of Russia. This resulted in many people not agreeing with him. In this, Britain, France, and the US all were not with him in his reign. They were known as the whites, and the Bolsheviks were known as the reds. Lenin wanted to distribute land, nationalize banks, confiscate all private accounts. In this act, this created enemies for the Bolsheviks. When Lenin was shot down in 1921, this created a power struggle between Stalin and Trotsky because they both wanted the higher power. During this struggle between the two it was called 'Guns or Butter'. Stalin wanted to focus more on industrial, Trotsky was more focussed on consumer goods. This struggle for power lasted for 3 years, but in the end resulted in Stalin winning the upper hand. He therefore modernized Russia. Stalin changed Russia from a agricultural based country to a industrial based country for a series of five years. By 1935, Stalin made Russia the second richest industrial country in the world.

For the February/March revolution it was based on riots and strikes which then went out of control. With no leader, there was no political movement to control anything. This revolution had the aim to abdicate Tsar. The difference between the Feb/March and Oct/November revolution was based on the overthrown government and established. This lead to the Monarchy being overthrown and later being turned into the provisional government. However; the October revolution was taken over rather than established. 20,000 soldiers demanded that the Soviets take over the government and abolish the Provisional Government. The Bolsheviks, led by Vladimir Lenin, took over the provisional government, as a result of Bolsheviks government being established.
The movie Enemy at the Gates was a very powerful and informing movie. Portraying the hardships of the Soviets during World War II against the Germans. Throughout the movies the Soviets prove that they are faithful to their country and wanting to protect their land at all times. Through the movie I gained knowledge about how the Germans fought, and how ruthless they are. Also showing that the Soviets were very much outnumbered and how much land the Germans were able to obtain. This is because the Germans had a more advanced army and more weaponry. I thought the movie did an amazing job in demonstrating how life was like during the war, making you connect to the soldiers of what it was like to fight and lose people important. All in all, I think the movie was very well done. |
