Lenin faced many challenges after the Russia Civil War. He was the leader of the Bolsheviks and founder of communist government of Russia. This resulted in many people not agreeing with him. In this, Britain, France, and the US all were not with him in his reign. They were known as the whites, and the Bolsheviks were known as the reds. Lenin wanted to distribute land, nationalize banks, confiscate all private accounts. In this act, this created enemies for the Bolsheviks. When Lenin was shot down in 1921, this created a power struggle between Stalin and Trotsky because they both wanted the higher power. During this struggle between the two it was called 'Guns or Butter'. Stalin wanted to focus more on industrial, Trotsky was more focussed on consumer goods. This struggle for power lasted for 3 years, but in the end resulted in Stalin winning the upper hand. He therefore modernized Russia. Stalin changed Russia from a agricultural based country to a industrial based country for a series of five years. By 1935, Stalin made Russia the second richest industrial country in the world.
